Bill Hauk Bio
Bill Hauk, a native of St. Louis, grew up on the city's south side. The son of a working class family, he attended his neighborhood's Southwest High School and then gravitated toward Washington University because, like his high school, it was in the neighborhood. He studied law in night school, but it was his passion for numbers that guided him toward his Masters In Business Administration. He went on to provide his acquired audit and accounting skills in the Air Force, serving on the staff of the Auditor General at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma.
After serving his country, Bill, with his CPA in hand, went to work for Main Hurdman. Main Hurdman was an Audit and Tax Firm providing its services to the many brokerage houses inhabiting the St Louis marketplace at the time. Included in this mix of Main Hurdman accounts was a nascent Edward Jones and its modest number of satellite offices. It wasn't long before Bill's talents and diligence landed him the coveted position of Partner with Main Hurdman
As a result of his work with Edward Jones while at Main Hurdman, Bill was offered and accepted a position as Financial Principal by the managing partner of Edward Jones, Ted Jones. Never one to leave a task unfinished the friendly transition from Hurdman to Jones required over six months to complete.
During his tenure at Edward Jones, Bill was part of a team that influenced phenomenal growth for the company, growth that saw Edward Jones expand to over 10,000 offices in the US, 750 in the UK and more than 1900 in Canada at last count. Unfortunately, phenomenal growth at Edward Jones brought with it increased administrative responsibility for Bill, distracting him from his core skill and passion, public accounting. Ted understood and after another six month friendly transition period Bill was back as a Partner at Main Hurdman.
Eventually, Main Hurdman merged with Pete Marwick, providing an opportune time for Bill to test his entrepreneurial skills by starting up a new CPA partnership with Ed Soule, Hauk Soule and Company. Over a period of time Bill's accounting firm has gone through a series of incarnations, and most recently, he joined forces with a kindred spirit in Bill Kruse to form Hauk Kruse & Associates, LLC.
Bill Hauk is a member in good standing with the CPA Society's AICPA and MSCPA. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Carrolton Bank and on the Advisory Board of Kids in the Middle, a charitable organization devoted to counseling young people experiencing the pain of separation due to death and divorce.
Bill's hobby is golf! He owns up to a 12 handicap to very close friends.
Bill and the love of his live, Becky, have two children, a son who is a Professor of Economics at the University of South Carolina and a daughter working at the Communications Center at Edward Jones.
